What is BeClose?

BeClose is a wireless monitoring system that uses proven wireless technology to help the millions of Americans who are caring remotely for elderly or disabled family members while allowing independent living to be safer, easier and more cost effective for everyone.

The system uses discreet sensors that are simply placed in the home of an aging family member or loved one.  These sensors are designed to monitor activity of daily life by tracking motion and pressure. The sensors communicate with a base station.   The base station sends the information wirelessly to secure servers.  That information is then displayed on a private web page.  This private web page allows caregivers to continually check on a loved one’s daily activities (or inactivity).  Additionally, the caregiver can set up multiple users on the private web page.  This allows for more than one caregiver to be involved. The caregiver can set up notifications to be alerted if something is out of the ordinary. These alerts can be sent to phone, mobile device or via email, allowing for real time monitoring, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

BeClose compared to a Personal Emergency Response System (PERS)?

By now everyone has heard the famous line, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.” This is from an ad campaign promoting a PERS.  One challenge PERS systems face is that in times of emergency the button is not pushed.  Seniors frequently either do not feel comfortable pressing the button even in times of emergency, or will not wear nor carry the system with them. Also, many seniors don’t want the fuss of emergency vehicles at their homes or strangers entering their homes.

BeClose provides much more than traditional PERS systems:
  • “Hands-free.”The BeClose system does not require the resident to push any buttons; BeClose utilizes wireless sensors tied to rules which together can notify caregivers if there is irregular activity or inactivity.
  • Works before an emergency takes place. The BeClose system utilizes a private online dashboard so that caregivers can be proactive in determining if there is a potential issue before it forms into a severe problem; we prefer a holistic health method over reactionary actions.
  • Leaves the land line (home) phone open.   In case of an emergency the signal will be transmitted through a cellular network.  So you can place a call to your loved one to check on them.
  • Provides real-time updates.  If something is out of the ordinary, you can receive an alert on your home phone or wireless device.
